you may be able to tell I'm still trying to figure out how to draw Odile- I have so much in my brain for like. community theatre au the siffrin doodles yesterday wasn't even the half of it. I'd love to talk about it more and more lol Like my local theatre I imagine all people do a little bit of everything because there's so many roles to fill and only so many hands so if you're ready for my silly ramblings look below lol
Odlie has to be a SM- I can't not picture her as one she'd be so good at it- She's really detail oriented, observant and organized. Maybe sometimes she acts too, but that's a very rare occasion. She likes the organization part of it very much. Sometimes she receives gifts from her crew which is a bit "???" to her because she's just doing what she likes to do, not realizing to others its so much more than that. The crew tries to guess what sort of job she has outside of the community theatre lol Isabeau does a little bit of everything!!!! Isabeau shows up for set construction, works backstage sometimes and recently has started going onto the stage too! He also loves to help with costumes and especially making things for historical pieces and doing the research on historical fashion. Siffrin's favourite hobby during rehearsals now is to try and get Isabeau to break character. Sometimes it works and Odlie has had to tell the both of them to cool it a little (it's all good fun though and never too disruptive- both of them do love the theatre and have respect for it!). Once Sif made a joke during a performance and Isa wasn't able to hold back the laughing that TOTALLY got picked up by the mics (and the audience heard it). The two of them got the appropriate scolding for it after from Mirabelle and Odile. I do have little ideas for Mirabelle, Bonnie and even Loop (teehee) and some more shenanigans I wanna doodle lol .... maybe even Siffrin as an actor teehee. In my head they haven't taken an acting role yet, but may in the future once he's a bit more comfortable

Alastor & Charlie are based on the Phantom & Christine
I came to this conclusion as Phantom of the Opera is one of Vivziepop's favourite musicals. You can see multiple references to the production in Helluva Boss.
In Moxxie's Bad Trip, Blitzo dresses as the Phantom as it's canonically Moxxie's favourite musical too.
Even Blitz's default design is styled after the Phantom, with his face scarring shaped similarly.
Many have drawn comparisons between Alastor and Charlie's dynamic and that of the Phantom and Christine, but here's why the parallel works so well.
In POTO, Christine's conflict revolves around her perception of the Phantom as both a father figure and her sexual awakening.
Christine is confused as to what exactly the Phantom is, but her perception of him becomes very blurry as she is half-convinced he is the spirit of her father guiding her (and thus becomes her father figure via manipulation), but at the same time falls in love with him romantically.
Similarly, Alastor and Charlie's dynamic is based on his attempt to manipulate her by claiming he is her new father figure (this is despite Viv's confirmation that he does not view her as a daughter). Two episodes later, he sneakily reveals in "Ready For This" that he plans to guide and mentor her.
♪ Sing once again with me, our strange duet
My power over you grows stronger yet ♪
So, both the Phantom and Alastor manipulate their muse by adopting a fatherly role while secretly harboring deeper, more complex desires. Both see Christine and Charlie as protégés whose talents they want to cultivate, but their intentions go beyond mere mentorship. Both are mentor-student relationships, albeit the Phantom and Christine develop romantic feelings.
Christine is also the first person to show the Phantom genuine kindness, thus opening his heart.
What else does POTO include? A love triangle between Christine, the Phantom, and her childhood friend Raoul, similar to how Alastor is very eager to get between Charlie and Vaggie.
Do you see where the story is going now?

So what do you think Showtime (Pomni x Caine)? Not in your TADC AU though! The original! What do you think of it?
I absolutely LOVE Showtime !! :D
With my AU, Caine and Pomni becoming father and daughter was more of a circumstantial thing - Kinger and Queenie are Pomni's bio parents and then they start dating Caine which would put him in a stepdad role, to which Pomni eventually accepts it and actively refers to him as her dad.
But outside my AU, Showtime is one of my faves !! My favourites are mainly among AUs of my moots and friends but a more canon dynamic Showtime is cute too <3

"Such'a fuckin kluts.." ݁₊ ⊹
Rating Katsuki Bakugo's stupid nicknames for me in my mha dr
Kluts - 9/10
— It sounds so cunty and its pretty catchy too 😍
— He calls me this often because I fall over my own feet so easily "such'a fuckin' kluts. Can't even stand on your two feet without trippin like an idiot"
Brat - 8/10
— I know he doesn't mean it in a cunty way but that's the way I take it
Brit - 🇬🇧/10
— He says it like a slur
Bug eyes - 5/10
— I get it because of my freakish looking goggles I wear with my hero costume
— It's observant but it's not all that creative because he already calls Mina and Iida nicknames based on their eyes too
Smartass - 5.7/10
— I hardly get questions wrong and mostly get straight As in tests
— It doesn't help that I am canonically a genius too and he likes to role his eyes whenever I win games against him saying shit like "I let you win" or "don't get too cocky smartass"
Antennas - 3/10
— This one's alr I guess...
— He gave this one to me when he noticed how the top two small chunks of my hair would raise and react to the environment around me and said I looked stupid
Twilight - 10/10
— A real fan favourite.
— It's probably the most creative nickname his given me so far. Most of my close friends call me Twilight more than my actual name now, and it's frequently used when making ship names.
— Almost became my hero name.
— A time when he used the name in a sentence. He was referring to me and Mina when he complained to someone, "... because Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie pie over here though it was a good idea to ditch the plan and freestyle it..."
Tech nerd - meh/10
— Basic.
— I'm sharing that infamous nickname with Deku now
— At least it shows he knows I'm good at what I do
Dimples - 8.8/10
— I love how he's so observant, "Dimples" is by far the cutest one he's given me next to Twilight.
— I find it kind of endearingg 🥹🙏🏾
Loopsie - 4.7/10
— One of my drawbacks from using my magnet quirk too much, is that my weight almost completely drops. I go dizzy, get hiccups and build static shocks and I start to get a little floaty.
— It literally looks like if Uraraka used her zero gravity on me for a short while or if lightning is about to strike because my hair and the hair on the arms start to raise from the static.
— I can't even stand straight without wobbling, swaying side to side thus where "loopsie" comes from because it looks like there should be swirls in my eyes like a cartoon character😭😭
— I said it kinda sounds like a drug and he said that's the point cus I look like I'm on something or im drunk
Tenticle hair - 2/10
— Would've prefered "shitty hair" to that ☹️☹️
— Aside from my hair colour being the reason he calls me Twilight, he really doesn't like the fact I can control my hair in anyway I want (hair awareness quirk)
— Hair awareness is my sibling quirk, and it freaks him out how I can manoeuvre around the place and pick things up with my hair lmao
— I told him I like to use my hair quirk as an extra pair of limbs, like an octopus' tentacles, and he said "he can tell" with the worlds most disgusted frown 🙄

do u have hcs for sams post canon family life
Ok so gonna preface this with the fact that I hold opinions that I think are relatively uncommon in this corner of Samblr which is that as a general overarching thing Sam was relatively happy, he and blurry partner stayed together and were mostly happy, and Sam was on the whole a pretty good dad. Not that everything was perfect, far from it, but that generally it all worked out ok. I feel this way mostly tbh because if I didn't I would genuinely struggle to get any enjoyment out of the finale. I'm a FAKE Sam suffering enjoyer lmao. It's already deeply fucking depressing to me to imagine Sam spending eternity in heaven with Dean being squished back into The Roles, I need SOMETHING so cling too lol.
ANYWAYS that being said:
Said this before but although I am fairly flexible on identity of blurry partner my personal favourite thing to come back to is that she is Amelia. So I'm gonna run with her for the rest of these.
Related to this is that I think when we see Sam leave the bunker in the finale to go on the hunt in Texas that ended up being the last time he ever returned. He didn't mean it to be, it just happened. Maybe subconsciously he knew because he'd packed the little memory box with pictures etc in the trunk of the Impala without thinking about it. Anyway keeping this on track, he ends up staying in Texas and eventually, he and Amelia run into each other again - her having left Don again after things didn't work out a few years ago (gonna be real with you I think Don was abusive) and end up reconnecting.
Riot and Miricle are kinda grumpy but tolerant about each other.
They also eventually adopt an old lady tabby cat from the local shelter who absolutely terrorises both dogs, but dotes on Sam.
Sam ends up telling Amelia the truth about his life about 3 months into their relationship restarting, not all of it, but enough to keep her aware. She says that honestly even though it sounds crazy it makes a LOT of sense of how Sam was when they first met. This is the point at which they decide they do want their relationship to last and be serious. Amelia suggests they do couple's counselling together, given both their past issues if they really want to make this work.
He and Amelia never marry for a variety of reasons, but it works for them.
Sam ends up getting a degree - I think in something like anthropology (me an archaeologist totally not biased here lol), he does it through a distance learning program so mostly online but with some in-person classes and workshops.
DJ wasn't a planned pregnancy and it took a lot of discussion between them to decide to go ahead. Sam in particular was very anxious about the idea of being an actual dad to an actual baby, as much as he was kinda one to Jack he knows this is a whole different level. Amelia never wanted kids with Don. Amelia is also in her 40s by the time it happens so there are extra potential complications to consider. In the end they both agree that they want go ahead, and they both acknowledge that this will probably be their only kid.
Already mentioned Sam and DJ being autistic elsewhere but that's very precious to me.
Sam does struggle to find a balance between making sure he's there for DJ in a way his dad wasn't for him and being too much of a helicopter parent. He's SO conscious of DJ being an only child and the potential for loneliness stemming from that (absolutely projecting his own childhood loneliness SO hard and of course, his ideas on sibling companionship are NOT normal lol). As DJ get's older Sam does manage to relax a little, although it is still an issue from time to time.
That being said as I mentioned previously re the autism headcannon this level of worry also means that Sam puts in SO much work and research into being a supportive dad to an autistic kid.
Amelia is the 'breadwinner' in the relationship, continuing to work as a vet, Sam works a series of different part-time jobs over the years, mostly involving fixing stuff. After he gets his degree he works a couple of days a week at the local library as an assistant.
Related, finally stopping hunting gave him time to really catch up with and assess his body, and a lot of the weight and wear and tear of what he'd been through hit him quite suddenly. He has chronic fatigue issues in particular for the rest of his life which is why part-time work ends up being the best solution for him. Although Amelia, and DJ when he's a teenager, do still frequently have to sit him down and force him to stop trying to do too much at once.
Amelia passes away before Sam. She had been dead for about 5 years by the time Sam died.
Sam keeps very little contact with the hunting world, but Jody does still come to visit. DJ is very fond of her, much to Sam's delight.
The first time Sam had to look after DJ on his own after Amelia went back to work full time and was working a nightshift he was stuck to him like glue, Amelia came home to find him curled up on the floor asleep right next to DJs cot.
Sam loves helping DJ with his homework, and DJ loves it too - its their special time together, and its when Sam is able to be most emotionally open and present.
Sam's issues with food never go away, and its one thing he and Amelia do get into fights over is Sam (unintentionally) putting some of his issues on DJ (think Sam telling Jack he shouldn't eat sugary cereal).
Sam and Amelia both discover a love of gardening and they spend a lot of their free time together working on their garden. Amelia particularly loves roses and has a little rose garden that becomes their little sanctuary (Amelia's ashes are buried there). Sam creates a little healing herbs garden, he doesn't actively practice witchcraft but he likes to make little tinctures and teas and stuff.
I'll stop there lol

I feel like they stirred up the Leta betrayal angle to create interest and subversion for COG, and to heighten the Newt/Tina will they-won’t they angle. pre-COG there was a big surge of fic with quite an unflattering portrayal of Leta (and sometimes Theseus) based on the way they advertised the movie. I remember reading two excellent fics, one where Leta was emotionally abusive and then one where she and Theseus had the sweetest romance and a kid, with the author saying “look, when I saw the movie, my impression totally changed”.
the impression it left me with (and, I’ll be honest, I find this interesting and have run with it in all my fics that touch on the expulsion) was that Newt volunteered to be expelled for her, it broke their friendship (possibly because Leta felt guilty she’d inadvertently ruined another good thing), and the distance turned Newt very wistful and maybe even a littleee cold (judging from the COG corridor interaction). I thought that was a really interesting flipside of Newt’s selfless and kind nature — and I liked it, to be honest, because it gave him a lot of depth — at least for me when writing him, haha.
I hateddd the giver/taker conversation. I feel like romance is more nuanced than that, and Leta’s trauma is so heavy of course it would require her being with a giver (and therefore being, according to Queenie, a “taker”). I think it put a lot of unnecessary stigma on that by the time we saw the second movie. like, was Queenie implying Newt deserved someone who’s not traumatised? in any successful relationship, you both play both roles at different times, right?? and I feel like Leta and Theseus managed that, we see them supporting one another, and we see that Leta isn’t a taker. I love how you interpreted it, her being a bit sad and lost and confused.
I also agree that the framing was meant to suggest it was Newt. my favourite interpretation is the one that Zoe and Callum (the Leta and Theseus actors) have, which is that she said it to Newt in a platonic way and Theseus in a romantic way. or at least, her childhood love and her present love, kind of like an acknowledgement for them both. I think this interpretation gives Leta the most grace.
and yess with her having the Lestrange name and then subverting it to be this sensitive, introspective, thoughtful, troubled, angry/sad/caring/nuanced/guilty woman was lovely. her marrying Theseus (the Scamanders aren’t a sacred 28 family which I’d imagine was a big deal?) and hanging out with Newt as a fellow outcast was very sweet. and her having got that name through her mother’s kidnapping is also so sad — it makes sense she was the “despairing daughter” in the predictions of tynchonus.
also I don’t mind at all, I love hearing other things!
omg in the interpretation of COG where Leta is in love with newt for the whole thing, marries Theseus as a second option, and confesses her “true feelings” to Newt when she sacrifices herself, that’s actually so sad for Theseus wtf. and for Leta too actually because this version kinda robs her of the agency she did have …but I can’t get it off my mind, like Newt hugging Theseus in the graveyard now means what…
[I’ll be honest, I don’t like Leta being in love with Newt romantically. because then Tina, Leta, and Bunty are all in love with Newt. that’s too high a proportion of the female cast. it being unrequited, though, with Newt pining and Leta just hanging out seeing him as a friend…that’s fun because it’s messy]

This has been sitting in my drafts for long enough and I haven't properly introduced her so here's my girl Lanh. Second protagonist of Vivere 44 (after Vreaz) and second generation Posthuman, first gens like Kota were originally from Earth but Lanh was born on Hanidias. As a result she's heavily entrenched in Arrow culture and is an enthusiastic fan of Arrow skyracing.
She struggles to keep up with her Posthuman peers due to a damaged node disorder that prevents her from being able to split her consciousness multiple ways. She is doing her best though
#my art#art#my favourite Struggler#vivere 44#posthuman#scifi#computer#hologram#oc#original character#wanna keep this one short and sweet so I'll save her role in the story for later but if people are curious feel free to ask#friends on discord know her deal

obsessed with charlie vickers's commitment to the idea that sauron wanted galadriel as his assistant--as if the dark lord of mordor believed the key to ultimate dominion over middle-earth was convincing the most chaotic of elves to somehow manage his shadow empire's day-to-day operations. 'if only galadriel could handle my travel arrangements, manage my digital platforms, and keep track of my appointments, maybe then my dominion would be truly unstoppable??'
maybe charlie is right though? maybe sauron is out there building his fortress and dreaming of the day galadriel shows up to streamline his evil agenda? maybe in sauron's control freak mind organizing files and arranging documents is romantic and so these are highly intimate moments: the two of them coordinating the perfect invasion and going over supply chain logistics while he teases her about her chaotic attempts at record-keeping (because you know his records are perfect and hers are a complete disaster.)
you can almost imagine him wistfully slipping the one ring over his wedding finger and thinking that if she would just join him, manage his calendar, book his dragon flights, rent his horse drawn carts, and manage the evil fortress guest list, they could be unstoppable--just a dark lord and his assistant forever bound by middle-earth's most nefarious to-do list.
#i love charlie#even though he wants her as his queen sauron absolutely has his role-playing fantasy of galadriel as his assistant#and i for one will not kink shame my favourite shadow daddy#haladriel#saurondriel#galadriel x sauron#sauron x galadriel#a perfectionist like sauron absolutely would get off on writing a well organised to-do list with his queen#trop#the rings of power

free my complex female character, she did the same thing as complex male characters but the fandom takes Any analysis of her actions/choices/motivations that doesn’t strip her of all of her agency in bad faith and claims that only misogynists would dare to critique the things that they’ve noticed in her character because she’s a woman, completely ignoring the over-presence of discourse about similarly traited male characters in their fandom.
#exhausted by people categorizing CRITIQUE. not even genuine hate just literally basic analysis of imogen’s character#as a) hate at all but b) misogynistic simply because… they assume the person like caleb and percy uncritically like#i love imogen and i love her because she’s riddled with complexity that gives reason for her to be unlikeable#the shit ashton says makes me want to tear out my hair and i could write analysis on why but they’re still one of my favourite characters#i enjoy caleb but watching him infuriated me because of his self interest which is a coherent trait of his but is a tiring one#similarly with percy of love his pretentious Smartest In The Room shit but sometimes it meant he treated others more poorly than necessary#but i’m not unpacking all of that just so i have some fandom mandated right to say that i think there’s an aspect of a female character#that is imperfect in the human sense#because like. i will continue to call imogen’s self interested until the world burns and the moon shatters. because she is.#the only reason her choice to do good is compelling at all is because the choice to do otherwise is so tangible#it isn’t a Mistake or Fault that she’s self interested. it’s by design#like. she reaches towards the storm in curiosity in her sleep. but then she fights back when she’s awake#that’s it#that’s the dynamic. that’s what’s compelling#but no ur right fandom. let’s instead all agree that imogen is actually just intrinsically good#and take away all agency and complexity and humanity from her#and instead slap a sticker of Morally Good and enjoy the caricature of her where she’s made to fit into the imagine of#the latest aesthetic ad for diarrhoea medication#imogen temult#critical role#inspired as always by dumbass twitter posts that i’m subjected to because of school n work#the worst part is i do like the laudna n imogen dynamic in the stagnancy where it is but so much of that fandom is so clear in their erosion#of both characters actuality to suit the picture of Ship Tropes#like fuckin. so much of imogen’s fanart in imodna making her fat which as a fat person great love to see it#not so much when it’s clearly to make her short n stout against laundas tall n lanky.#anyway

Favourite Resident Evil Characterizations Out of All Their Games [1/?]: Short Hair Claire Redfield in Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (2015)

I am liking Jujutsu Kaisen, way more than I imagined I would, but I foresee it will let me down and it's keeping me from enjoying this as much as I could haha
I think the characters and dynamics are well set, and I think many of them have an incredibly good and deep potential, but I would be willing to bet they'll not get a proper development, enough for them to really hit. A well assembled set of gears is not enough to make the movement go, you have to wind the clockwork.
I think Gojo and Megumi have a fascinating and very complex dynamic, but I doubt it will be given the time and care that imo it needs to actually work. And it is going well enough for now! One could see the intimacy between them was deeper than the one Gojo had with, say, Yuji and Nobara ever since the very first few episodes despite the fact Fushiguro too was a first year. But the pieces forming what they have are extremely complex, and it just wouldn't be realistic if it doesn't show, even if in a not showing way, or if it doesn't have consequences or implications.
It's one of those dynamics that shape one's life, the way one regards the world, the way one establishes or not relationships with other people. It's one of those dynamics that could be full of fondness, gratitude, resentment, admiration, trust, and that imply intimacy, the good kind or the bad, even if in just the knowledge of someone who's been a constant through your life. It could, and would, imply a myriad of feelings, and probably in such a mix it could imply contradictory feelings too. Even the nothingness would weight, even the nothingness would be significant and meaningful.
Gojo took Megumi and his sister under his wing, the son of a man who murdered him, because of both selfish and selfless reasons. Megumi looks like Toji. What does Gojo feel about this? How does Gojo deal with this? How does Gojo go about taking care of Megumi? Would he walk him to school? Make him breakfast? Celebrate his birthdays making him blow candles? Did he take him to the zoo? Does the relationship between them feel professional or is it something more? Gojo appreciates his students, but is Megumi to him just another student? When Gojo faces Sukuna in Megumi's body, did he see the kid he raised, or does he just see Sukuna in one of his students' body? Did he have one faint wavering instant? And how does Megumi feel about this? Is he resentful of him? Resentful of the situation? Of the selfishness behind his actions? Does he feel like a pawn? Is he grateful? Does he resent feeling grateful? Would he rather not? Does he love Gojo? Does he feel nothing about him other than what he could feel about a teacher that sort of annoys him but knows he's reliable in his strength? Does he think it unfair, cruel or unfeeling that Gojo is close, closer perhaps, with Yuuji or Yuta, considering their story? When Sukuna slices Gojo in two, does the remnants of Megumi's soul tremble?
And not just Megumi and Gojo. Yuuji and Nanami, Gojo and Nanami, Yuuji and Fushiguro, Nobara and the boys, or Nobara and Maki, Todo and Yuuji or Yuta, Gojo and Yuta, Megumi and his sister. Gojo and Geto, even! If the pieces are well set, the dynamics are intriguing, interesting, and have potential to be deep, but then the characters have like two plot relevant scenes that punch you hard, but little more, it's not nearly enough. Especially not nearly enough for the enormity that is shonen dynamics and situations. And the potential existing at all, and then not delivering, makes it all the more frustrating when you're left with something mediocre that could have been so good.
The development of dynamics through not only a few plot relevant gut wrenching moving scenes, but also the smallness of life, is important. The friend who recommended this to me said that those things were just unnecessary filler, but I disagree. I think there's a big difference between a large amount of anime-only filler episodes whose existence is based on the fact they had run out of manga chapters to animate, and moments of quietness. The low stakes character-driven moments of quietness can be so telling and so insightful, and they are so satisfactory when brought back later in higher stakes situations. My friend teased me there was no scene of Gojo making breakfast to Megumi, that it would be an idiotic idea, but it would be so telling. How he makes breakfast, what they eat, if he tries hard or if it's all mechanised, if they have personal bowls or if they use whatever, if he just buys them some pastry on the way to school, if the way they have breakfast changes through the years, or if he doesn't make them breakfast at all! All that would be very insightful on their dynamic and its evolution. All that would give a glimpse on how they regard each other and why, even in the present. All that could become meaningful in tense situations and high stakes scenes.
These moments also let the plot breath; if a lot is happening all the time, if every character is always experiencing trauma after trauma, the entire story is so emotionally draining that at some point you don't even care all that much. Besides, these nothing moments or low stakes plot arcs, besides deepening and developing dynamics, also let some in-world time pass, which would make the intimacy and bond between characters more believable imo; between Yuuji eating Sukuna's finger and their last confrontation in December how much time has passed? A few months? Am I truly to believe these characters are so everything to each other in only a few months?
Without some smallness, some repetition, some daily life, some low stakes not plot-centric development, the dynamics don't hit, they don't truly feel fleshed out, and dynamics as complex as the ones Megumi and Gojo have, or as supposedly meaningful as the one Megumi has with Yuuji or his sister, should be fleshed out if they're going to exist at all. Otherwise they'd risk making the writing feel awkward and fake. Besides, if the dynamics felt well fleshed out and realistic, they would shape the way the characters interact and act, and how they deal with situations, thus being plot relevant.
The shonen genre has so much happening all the time, the stakes are so high, the dynamics are so rooted in big events and the relationships carry enormous weight and implications. Yet they barely get developed, and it feels so stupid, so plain, the absence of something so important noticeable like a constant void, a shapeless nothingness present in every scene. It makes the characters feel like cardboard figures. Jujutsu Kaisen is already getting a better job than many, but I doubt it will do enough for what I've heard, and I fear I am bound to feel let down, and bound to feel unmoved.
After all, if not enough time and care has been given to develop a dynamic, I am not going to feel pressured by the high stakes; if not enough time and care has been given to develop the dynamic between Megumi and Yuuji, as good potential as it has I am bound to feel little for this last confrontation between Sukuna and Itadori, and his effort in getting Megumi back.
#It's not that I think everything has to be character driven or take a lot of care about dynamics#Death Note for instance works well without it. There's juice in the dynamic between Light and his father and the role of Matsuda there#and it works well with Light's views and their evolution and the whole Kira situation. It isn't much. It doesn't need more#But Death Note doesn't truly drop something as big as Gojo and Megumi to then do barely nothing about it#('But L and Watari' not the same at all. That was deepened in the anime and besides Watari is not one of the main characters)#Or Megumi and his sister. If we see barely nothing of Megumi and his sister other than shiny flashbacks of her#how am I to feel moved by it all beyond superficial emotions? I don't know. It just feels so like cardboard to me#And it annoys me! It annoys me a lot! Because Jujutsu Kaisen has amazing potential! The dynamics and characters could be amazing!#But I don't trust they'll live to their full potential and the potential existing for nothing is ruining this for me xD#Jujutsu Kaisen#Sorry this time I'm tagging it. I want to find this and see if I was right when I'm finished. I think I'll read the manga too#The condescending filler breakfast comment by my friend was ironic considering the Kramer vs. Kramer breakfast scenes exist#Breakfast can be so telling. And besides he loves the Chainsaw Man coffee scene so I don't get why not breakfast#But truly some small daily life moments can tell us a lot about a character that we could recognise later on in high stakes scenes#such as how they deal in tense situations‚ what makes them snap#how they go about dealing with a problem.#Sometimes it could be smaller moments or conversations what makes characters reconsider things‚ not just having Sukuna rip their heart out#In Pandora Hearts the conversation between Elliot and Oz about the book series they love and their favourite characters becomes key#Oz's development and how he regards things‚ his own person‚ and how he deals with situations will be shaped later on by this conversation#till the very end. The entire main character's development is shaped by a 'filler' conversation. It's not filler. It's just not a fight scen#Shonen manga readers find everything filler except for fights which is ironic considering that many fights in shonen feel unnecessary#Breakfast is unnecessary. Just filler. Fighting thirty seven secondary monsters or chapter after chapter of physical training is not. Okay#Things can be small but plot relevant. If it shapes and fleshes out and deepens a character or a relationship it is not filler#And mainly MAINLY for the love of everything good if you're going to make a fucked up or Meaningful Beyond Everything dynamic#give it time and care. Actually write it. Don't give me two panels and one conversation after some life and death situation. It's not enoug#Especially if I'm to believe they are important. Make me believe they actually are#I don't know... This issue with not trusting the development of very well set potential in Jujutsu Kaisen#has not only been keeping me from thoroughly enjoying the series‚ but actively keeping me from watching for weeks#It makes me doubt if I want to spend my time in this at all since after all time is limited and we can but spend it in a handful of things#A pity. I really love some things and I really think Megumi and Gojo could be everything to me haha the Heathcliff/Hareton vibe gets me

Last Twilight; Mee's legacy continues
I know that we're all mad at how episode 11 went. Believe me, I am too. I'm not going to be talking about the issues in the episode, several others have already done so, and far more eloquently than I could. Because despite the episode's failings, there are still some things about this episode that I think deserve to be talked about.
I've loved keeping up with Mee's story as the show has progressed (written about it here and here). I thought that Mee's story ended in episode 9, but it continues to be present in the narrative. The most obvious clue to this is, obviously, Porjai's daughter, whom they named Mee. In addition to that, episode 11 focuses on highlighting the fact that Day 's blindness is not something that can be cured, just as Mee could never return to her life before she was cursed. Just as Mee had hoped that the last twilight would allow her to return to her normal life, Day hoped, even fully believed that the surgery would allow him to become "normal" again (the medical inaccuracies of the process aside). In the end, neither can return to a sense of "normalcy", as Mee turns to stone and Day's surgery fails. Both stories are haunted by a sense of grief, helplessness, and hope that is given and taken away. But the end of Mee's story isn't written as tragic, it's written as joyful. The exact same ending could have been written as tragic and solemn, but it wasn't. In the end, Mee was able to revel in the fact that she would never turn invisible again, despite turning to stone. And that's what I'm hoping that Day's final arc will resemble. Because we know that Day is still insecure about his blindness, and about people's pity for him. His buying that cane was a massive step in the right direction, because it showed that he was willing to "announce to everyone that he's blind", to be less afraid. But, as the breakup showed us, he's still insecure about his blindness. If the theory is right, episode 12 should show us Day accepting his blindness, and maybe even celebrate it as a part of him, as Mee does.
Mee's story has run parallel to Day's since they began to read it. Mee's story is over now, but Day's isn't. We see that Mee continues to have a presence in Day's life, be it metaphorically, through her story predicting his, or literally, through Porjai's daughter. Besides fixing a lot of the damage that was done in episode 11, if there's one thing I'd like from episode 12, it's one final call back to Mee's story.
#accidently deleted this whoops#thank god i had it on my clipboard#i'd actually love it if Mee (porjai's daughter) plays a role in Day resolving one of his conflicts#really hammer the metaphor in you know?#i think mee's story has been one of my favourite parts of last twilight#i think i made that abundantly clear by how much i wrote about it#on a different note though#i know how much everyone disliked the ending#but i don't think it should stop us from seeing what the ep did do well#or...at least tried to do well#gonna try to write about the Mhon soon#i wanted to write about her ages ago#but i got Busy#last twilight#last twilight the series#last twilight meta#last twilight mee#last twilight day#mhokday

I think I've said this before, and I will say it again: Rebecca is such a well-written character, especially for someone who is neither the MC, nor an LI, nor the villain(s).
And this scene is so good, and fits so consistently with her character and her relationship with her mentor. Here is Eragon, an old, weary man, Heaven's last fortress against destruction- a man sick of war but unable to stop fighting; and there is Rebecca- not his family, lover or wife, but his "spiritual sister", his "executioner" and his "comrade-in-arms". Someone whom he regarded with appreciation, if not respect, and someone who will disagree with him, and perhaps even dislike his attitude at times, but someone he can trust, someone who will respect him, and someone who will stand by him when the whole world burns and fight by his side. His sister.
#her and eragon's relationship is one of my favourite things in the book#you don't see women in such roles in media very often#i love them so much#hs eragon#hs rebecca#rc eragon#rc rebecca#romance club#rc#rc heaven's secret#heaven's secret 2#heaven's secret#rc hs2#rc hs#rc heaven's secret 2#hs2#hs
